Nothing in particular to add this morning, merely to inform you that Annie Lennox has her 46th birthday today. For those who aren't as familiar with this, she was born on Christmas Day, 1954. Congratulations to her, although not the family, because they have to buy double the presents!
I received an e-mail from Amazon.com today confirming that 'Annie Lennox - Live in Central Park' has now been released on DVD in the US and Canada only. Eurythmics' Peace Tour, Greatest Hits, Sweet Dreams and Annie Lennox's Diva are also available to buy on this format in the UK.
In other news, the 'Big Dinner Plate' auction at Mick Fleetwood's auction site ended earlier today [see further details below]. The plate sold for £120 and I was the buyer.
This is old news for some, but something that is still relevant. Over at Mick Fleetwood's auction site [http://www.fleetwoodowen.com] a number of celebrities are auctioning off their own designs for dinner plates. Proceeds go to charity, and Annie Lennox is one of the people who have supplied their very own original design. The auction closes on the 13th December.
In other news, Annie was also recently featured in the Sunday Times (UK newspaper) in the Top 500 Rich List. Her earnings for 2000 are estimated to be over 1 million pounds.
Dave Stewart recently attended a press conference in Paris, France, where he spent a number of days promoting his most recent film 'Honest' (which also stars members of the All Saints pop group). According to fans who witnessed the event, Dave commented that a release of previously unrecorded songs could see the light of day in the future. In other related news, he commented that it was unlikely the Eurythmics would be releasing any new material for at least another year. (Thanks for the Pic Thierry!)
* There is a new book to be published about Annie Lennox on 12th February 2001 - it has been confirmed by Amazon.co.uk. Written by Lucy Ellis and Bryony Sutherland, it should feature around 450 pages of biographical information in hardback form. Whether or not the Book will be available outside the UK is yet to be confirmed.
* In other news, you can vote for the 100 Greatest #1 Singles Of All Time on the UK's Channel 4 Website. Next year, the channel will reveal the Top Choices from members of the public who vote on their Favourite Top 10 and Worst Song. The Programme will be hosted by Comedian Graham Norton. It is mentioned because 'There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)' is included in the line-up, which remains the Eurythmics' only UK #1 Single to date.
* 'The 25 Years of #1 Hits - Arista Records 25th Anniversary Celebration Concert' (in which Annie appears) has been released on Video and DVD currently on NTSC Format Only (I'm led to believe). The Video also features a performance from Whitney Houston amongst others.
Annie Lennox recently attended the funeral of TV Presenter and former wife of Bob Geldof and Michael Hutchence - Paula Yates. The 40 Year old celebrity was recently discovered dead at her home - the cause of death has yet to be established. Annie Lennox was a friend of the star.
Older But Still Important News!
Annie recently split from long-term partner Uri Fruchtmann, who she's had two children with. Apparently, the couple claimed they had drifted apart and the split was amicable.
